Sunè Taljaard

Sunè studied for her LLB Degree at North West University, Potchefstroom and completed her final year at De Vrije University, Amsterdam as an exchange student. She was admitted as an attorney in 2004 and in 2005 & 2006 she was admitted as a Conveyancer and Notary Public.

Sunè specialises in conveyancing, drafting and notarising Antenuptial contracts and all other Notarial matters.

She is married to Pierre and they have 2 daughters, Carla and Anike.

Carl Johnson

Carl joined the team in 2009 to assist Petrus in General Litigation.  He previously worked in Legal Aid specialising in Criminal Litigation.  Carl is a Small Claims Court Commissioner.

He is married to Hayley and has a son, Dominic, and daughter Chloe. Fishing is Carl’s passion.

Rob Harris

Rob hails from Joburg and joined the firm at the beginning of 2020. He finished top of his class in 2017 bagging the coveted Investec Top 100 university achievers of that year. Since joining the firm, Rob quickly moved up the ranks and was named a director from 1 April 2023. He has built up a reputation for hard work, and his array of corporate clients would bear testament to this. Rob leads our civil and commercial litigation department, and also practices in the areas of insolvency, foreclosures, commercial drafting and advice, and family law.

Rob specialises in civil and commercial litigation, commercial drafting, civil procedure, family law and foreclosures.

Practising Consultants

Petrus Coetzee

Petrus qualified in 1992 and has built up a formidable reputation as a criminal lawyer after being involved in a number of successful defences in high profile cases.  His previous experience as a Magistrate, Prosecutor and Advocate with the then Attorney Generals Office, now the Director of Public Prosecutors, gave him the good grounding for this. 

He has also built up a busy civil litigation and commercial law practice.  He is well known for his enthusiasm and work ethic.

Petrus enjoys cycling and outdoors. He is married to Linda and they have 2 children, Lisa and Nicholas and the family have enjoyed many a camping holiday adventure!

Graham Shelwell

Graham has been in the practice since 1969.  He has a specialised commercial practice relating to property transactions, in particular Sectional Title Developments and has become one of the doyens of conveyancing in KwaZulu-Natal for more than 50 years.

The Staff

The professionals are fortunate to have the backing of some 30 staff members, headed by Magda Timms, the Senior Bookkeeper and Office Manager.

Several staff members have served with the practice for many years.

Graham Shelwell’s secretary, Minori Pillay joined the practice in 1988 as did conveyancing Secretary, Pat Naidoo.
